Writer and property man,
I've had two history books published, both about France during WW2, each about 150k words, hence quite meaty. I am presently tidying and polishing a long historical novel I've written set in the late 18th/early 19th century Jamaica. - Hence probably best suited to the more academic type of girl who is quite a deep thinker.
I have flats I let out to long term tenants, some of whom are on benefits and have been with me ten years.
Politically I'm a moderate Tory. I voted 'Remain' in the EU referendum. My feeling was that it was a great pity to give up on the vision of de Gaulle and Adenauer but I suppose we have to stop repining and move on.
My background is old upper middle class. Applying some academic objectivity I can find substantial chunks of Mum's ancestry in Burke's Landed Gentry, while my late father's side was more ordinary.
I am a Catholic albeit probably not a very good one; my next confession would probably take a long time and make my knees ache! But I would find it difficult being with someone cheap-minded.
I've spent a sizeable chunk of my life caring for an elderly mother who died aged 99 and seven months in April 2022. So now it's time to resurrect dreams and ideas that were 'on hold.' I've also inherited a large old late Georgian house which I would prefer to keep.
Apols if I seem desperately dull. Actually I can be quite larky and I used to write and perform review at university.
Obviously I'm a bit of a Francophile and once spent an exhausting but immensely enjoyable couple of weeks helping a cousin lay out an olive plantation in Provence. I wouldn't mind doing something similar myself - or a small vineyard - if there was someone to join in.
Ideally I'm looking for an intellectual, lady-like sort of girl aged late 30s-early 40s who's prepared to look further up the age range who might be game to try for a child. Otherwise I'll have to leave 'mes biens' to some cousins I barely know; bit depressing.

I would also add that I am quite a Francophile and would like a place in France or, at the very least, to spend more time there.
I like a bit of good old fashioned demureness so if your exes run into double figures you're probably not for me. Sorry to spell it out but it saves anguish later. I want someone morally reliable and regard myself as morally reliable.
Politically I am probably not suited to anyone with deeply Left-wing views, but I have sometimes voted Lib-Dem and respect the Liberal tradition.
Otherwise I'm looking for someone fairly pukkah, well-read, intellectual, arty (there have been artists and portrait painters among my ancestors) and elegant.
The wimmin in my family tend to be quite tall; it's what I'm used to. My late mother was 5'10" in her prime and her sister was 6'2"!
In the future I want to either remain in or around Cheltenham or in France, either Loire Valley or Provence. I don't like being cold and I don't ski. So if Scotland and the Alps are your thing, I'm not for you.
I know it's 'an ask' but ideally I'm looking for someone late 30s/early 40s who's prepared to look further up the age range and is game to try for a family. I am well aware that this proposition is only going to appeal to a 'rare bird', rather fogeyish sort of girl. But if you don't ask, you don't get.
