Looking for intelligent life in Islington or nearby. I don't do macho and believe in equality, a friend recently said that I am the most grounded person she knows which I find very funny - it doesn't look that way from the inside! I love science and SF and also have interests in education, psychology, and history, my favourite popular writers are Arthur C. Clarke and Carl Sagan. Loving science doesn't stop me having emotions or making mistakes, and when it comes to intelligence I muddle through like everyone else. I enjoy chatting over a coffee, going for a walk to look at architecture or nature, reading a good book and listening to music - everything from Bach to Peggy Gou. I love museums and art galleries. One of the things I get a great deal of satisfaction from is supporting people through difficulties - I had to grow up doing that but now enjoy it. Empathy is my favourite human quality. I am a former recluse who was surprised to discover that there are lots of nice people out there and they make up for the petty people, so I like people but not crowds. My main interest is physics and I am hoping to get some of my work published but either way I am enjoying myself. My budget won't allow lots of international travel so I might suit someone who is also on a limited budget. It would be nice to have someone to share thoughts, feelings, and experiences with. I have a dry sense of humour and I like irony so sometimes people don't know when I am joking! Is there anyone out there on the same wavelength or have I painted myself into a corner?

Bookish but warm woman in or near the borough of Islington who has academic interests and a good sense of humour. Someone who - like me - likes chatting and music but can also appreciate silence and time spent alone, perhaps reading or just thinking. I am looking for a friend and anything more would be a very pleasant surprise. I would like someone on the left or liberal politically. All ethnic groups are welcome and although my flat doesn't have wheelchair access disabled people are welcome too and that includes people who struggle with their thoughts or feelings. :)
