About me
I’m 84 years old, I’m told by people I meet that look 10 years younger, so I’ve worn well. I’m English with strong county roots, and I’ve led a varied and busy life.
I started work on a farm, then served in the Army, followed by years in the Merchant Navy seeing different parts of the world. When I came ashore, I worked as a groundsman, before moving gradually into business and running my own affairs — so I’ve done my share of hard work and always stood on my own two feet.
Now retired, I live comfortably on my own, keep myself active, and still take a keen interest in how things work. I believe in honesty, common sense, and transparency — I’ve even written and published a book outlining my ideas for how our parliamentary systems could be run better, with my alternative constitution.
Family matters a great deal to me: I’m divorced but I stay close, help look after my daughter’s elderly dog, and support my granddaughter with her studies — that keeps me feeling connected and useful. I play golf and follow sport closely, take an active interest in politics and sensible reform, and have travelled further afield too, including Thailand, Vietnam and Laos. Though as much as I like getting out, I’m just as happy with a quiet day at home or a relaxing evening with good conversation.
My memory’s still sharp, my mind is active, and I know exactly who I am. I’m looking for an attractive companion — not someone too young; ideally between 70 and 82, someone who’s also lived life, has her own views, and enjoys straightforward company. No games, no pretence, just respect and knowing where you stand.
